In recent years, Nigeria has begun growing its gaming community which began from small street to street competitions to full blown State and National gaming competitions.
Titeboi Entertainment in partnership with Fearless Energy Drinks has decided to make the electronic sport industry mainstream in Nigeria. We kicked it off with the Naija Fighters Connect event which was held on the 21st of July, 2018. Gamers from all over Lagos had to brawl with their preferred fighter characters against the best gaming fighters for the Tekken and Street Fighter competitions.
The victors of the events won cash prizes, t-shirts, face caps and Fearless Energy drinks. One of the winners of the gamers with the code name “Duchess” had this to say about the caliber of players in the competition, “I am only here to have fun, but those guys in there are beasts”. The games had great strategy of game play and we witnessed how the top players showed massive skills which made the average players frustrated from beginning to the end of the game play. The Tekken competition winner defeated all contenders to keep his undefeated, seven years championship title. He goes by the code name “Es_Combo” while for the Street Fighter game, “Chux”, out played all opponents to emerge the winner of the game.
Tekken and Street Fighters were not the only games played at the Naija Fighters Connect. Other games featured were Mortal Kombat 9, Mortal Kombat XL, Frozen, Sonic car race, FIFA 18 and PES.
